Historic Preservation Grant for Baker Mansion History Museum

Historical Societies and Museums State Grants

HARRISBURG — Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) and Rep. Andrea Verobish (R-79) announced the Blair County Historical Society has been awarded a $99,250 Keystone Historic Preservation Grant through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC).

“Historic sites like Baker Mansion help tell the story of our community and preserve the heritage that makes Blair County unique,” Ward said. “This investment will help protect an important local treasure while allowing future generations to learn about and appreciate our region’s history.”

The project will allow the Blair County Historical Society to restore and stabilize key structural elements of the museum. The funding will support restoration, stabilization and preservation work on the iconic columns and second-floor porch of the Baker Mansion History Museum, helping to ensure the historic landmark remains accessible to residents and visitors for generations to come.

“Blair County wouldn’t be the same without Baker Mansion. This 175-year-old landmark houses our history museum and historical society, and hosts events for our community throughout the year,” Verobish said. “This grant will help ensure the building continues to stand strong for decades to come, preserving a space where our community can gather and learn our shared history.”

The Keystone Historic Preservation Grant Program supports projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeological resources across Pennsylvania. The program is funded through the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund and administered by PHMC.
