HARRISBURG – Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) announced today two projects in Blair and Mifflin counties have been awarded nearly $3 million to support safety upgrades aimed at improving travel and traffic flow in high-activity areas throughout the region.
“These projects will improve safety for our pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists throughout Blair and Mifflin counties,” Ward said. “We are always looking to improve our commonwealth’s infrastructure, and these projects showcase the work that can be done to make Pennsylvania roadways safe for everyone who uses them.”
The projects include $1,490,230 toward improving pedestrian infrastructure along several blocks of Allegheny Street, a main residential corridor in Hollidaysburg, Blair County. These enhancements will include new sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, as well as traffic calming measures such as crosswalks.
An additional $1,489,740 will be used to enhance safety and connectivity along Electric Avenue and South Logan Boulevard in Mifflin County, by constructing 6-foot-wide bike lanes and 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalks from Ort Valley Road to Derry Park Drive. The project also includes ADA-compliant ramps at business entrances and street intersections, as well as creating a safer, connected route that supports students walking and biking to school.
The projects are being funded through the 2025-26 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program and is part of a statewide funding round supporting improvements to pedestrian, bicycle and transit-access infrastructure across Pennsylvania.
