Funds to pay for projects in Blair and Huntingdon Counties
HARRISBURG – Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) today announced $1.25 million in state grant funding has been awarded for three projects in Frankstown Township and Hollidaysburg Borough, Blair County, and Franklin Township, Huntingdon County.
In Blair County, D Holdings has been awarded $500,000 to fund the installation of rail lines and facilities as part of the third phase of the DeGol Industrial Center Rail Expansion and Cross Dock Facility Project. In addition, Hollidaysburg Borough will benefit from $400,000 in grant funding to construct the Canal Basin Park Gateway Connector Bridge.
In Huntingdon County, Franklin Township has been awarded $350,000 to replace the Graysville Cemetery Road over Spruce Creek.
“This recent round of grant funding is a great example of how the Multimodal Transportation Fund can improve quality of life in rural areas,” said Ward. “These projects are much deserved and will encourage economic development through maintaining a safe and dependable transportation network in these communities, all without placing an additional burden on their taxpayers. I am always proud to advocate in Harrisburg for projects like these that enhance our transportation assets in the district.”
The grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. Funding for these projects is being delivered through the DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program, which provides financial support for projects to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for commonwealth residents.
