Funds to pay for projects in Huntingdon Borough and Henderson Township, Huntingdon County
HARRISBURG – Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) and state Rep. Rich Irvin (R-81) today announced nearly $900,000 in state grant funding has been awarded for two projects in Huntingdon County.
“I am pleased to hear about the Multimodal Transportation Program grant awards for Henderson Township and Huntingdon Borough,” Ward said. “I am always happy to advocate for the needs of my district, especially when it comes to projects like these. This financing will allow these municipalities to make much-needed transportation improvements to increase the safety and reliability of local infrastructure without placing a burden on local taxpayers.”
Huntingdon Borough was awarded a grant of more than $700,000 to reconfigure the intersection of Moore Street and Cold Springs Road.
Henderson Township will benefit from a $185,000 grant to fund roadway improvements on Gorsuch Road.
“Roadway realignment and safety improvements to the busy Cold Springs Road-Moore Street intersection better ensure safety for both motorists and pedestrians. Improving motorist and pedestrian visibility, reducing speeds and improving the overall flow of traffic are the goals of this project,” said Irvin. “In Henderson Township, residents have reported aging and deteriorating roadways. These funds to repair Gorsuch Road will also allow the township to dedicate its resources to other infrastructure needs. I am proud to support infrastructure funding for all municipalities in the 81st District.”
The grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. Funding for these projects is being delivered through the DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program, which provides financial support for projects to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for commonwealth residents.
