Ward, Gregory Announce $1 Million Grant for Nason Hospital Expansion

HARRISBURG – Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) and Rep. Jim Gregory (R-80) announced a $1 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant awarded to Conemaugh Nason Medical Center for expansion to its facility located in Roaring Spring, Blair County.

The funding will help the facility add a new surgical suite and renovate existing surgical suites to boost access, enhance efficiency and improve safety for patients undergoing medical procedures. An existing central sterile area will also receive new flooring and updated equipment to meet current infection control guidelines related to workflow, decontamination, and storage.

“As we have seen during the recent pandemic, investments in our medical infrastructure are more important now than ever,” said Ward. “These improvements at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center will build upon previous upgrades and allow the hospital to better handle the increased patient demands for medical services in the suburban and rural areas of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon Counties.”

“I’m familiar with the struggles that exist within healthcare in the 80th District,” added Gregory. “One of those struggles includes expansion of services and accessibility for patients. I’m extremely pleased to see this funding come to Nason Hospital to address one of those important issues.”

According to Tim Harclerode, CEO of Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, this state funding will help the hospital improve its service to keep patients close to home. “These enhancements will allow the hospital to continue to provide the high-quality, safe care that our patients deserve and expect,” said Harclerode. “ We are very grateful for the support of Sen. Ward and Rep. Gregory for this project.”

RACP, a $3.1 billion program administered through the Office of the Budget, provides grants for development projects that boost the economic, civic, cultural, recreational or historical value of the surrounding community.
