Coroners will Join Senator Judy Ward, Rep. Benninghoff to Highlight Bill Requiring Deaths be Reported to Coroners

State Senator Judy Ward (R-30) was joined by House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-171) and county coroners from throughout the Commonwealth for a news conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, to discuss a bill to make it clear that certain circumstances of death shall be reported to the coroner, including any disease constituting a health disaster emergency or pandemic. During COVID, coroners reached out to about discrepancies in numbers of COVID deaths reported by the Department of Health and deaths they as coroner’s were aware of in their county. A similar bill was vetoed by Governor Wolf last legislative session.
