Verobish, Ward Announce $1.9 Million Awarded for Altoona Curve Baseball Field Renovations

state assistance for local project

BLAIR – Rep. Andrea Verobish (R-Blair) and Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) today announced the Altoona Curve baseball team will receive $1.9 million in grant funding for field renovations, made possible through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

Diamond Baseball Holdings LLC, owner of the Altoona Curve, will use funding to remove the current playing field, excavation underneath the field, and complete replacement of the irrigation and drainage systems.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have the Altoona Curve here in Blair County. The team continues to play well year after year, creating a sense of pride among all fans in the county and surrounding area,” said Verobish. “But for the team to play well, they have to feel good on their home turf.  This funding ensures the field is in great shape every season and represents an investment in Curve baseball for years to come.”

“The Altoona Curve are a staple here in Blair County and provide family fun for fans of all ages,” said Ward. “This funding will provide the team and organization the opportunity to maintain operations and standards set by Major League Baseball to ensure this facility stays in top quality for both players and fans alike.”

Funding will help cover the cost of sod and materials needed to replace the field and the cost of labor to install the new playing surface.
