Ward Announces More than $600,000 in School Safety Funding for Area Nonpublic Schools

HARRISBURG –– Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) announced the approval of $608,415 in state grants for nonpublic schools in the district to address school violence, bolster security and support student mental health.

“Providing students and educators with safe, secure learning environments is essential to academic success and community well-being,” Ward said. “These grants will help schools throughout the 30th District strengthen security measures, expand access to mental health resources and better prepare for potential safety threats. I am pleased to see this funding invested in our local schools to help protect students and staff.”

The following private schools have been awarded grant funding from the Targeted School Safety for Nonpublic Schools program:

Blair County

  • Bishop Guilfoyle Academy – Junior and Senior High Campus
  • Bishop Guilfoyle Academy – Eldorado Campus
  • Bishop Guilfoyle Academy – Fairview Campus
  • Bishop Guilfoyle Academy – Hollidaysburg Campus
  • Merakey Pennsylvania – Altoona
  • Merakey Pennsylvania – East Freedom
  • Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. – Soaring Heights School – Altoona
  • St. Matthew Church

Juniata County

  • Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. – Soaring Heights School – Mifflintown

Mifflin County

  • Belleville Christian School

Targeted School Safety for Nonpublic Schools funding is awarded to nonpublic schools to address school violence and school mental health, and to municipalities, law enforcement agencies, and approved school security personnel third-party vendors to provide school security services to public and nonpublic schools. It is administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
