Redding, Ward to Commemorate Signing of Frozen Dessert Legislation

MECHANICSBURG – State Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) is joining with Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding at Hoss’s Steak & Seahouse in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m. to commemorate the passage of Senate Bill 152 repealing the Frozen Dessert Law.

The Mechanicsburg Hoss’s is located at 61 Gettysburg Pike

The Frozen Dessert Law was originally written in the 1960’s.  Since that time, the law had become duplicative with the passage of additional federal and state food safety laws and regulations. That duplicity created an unproductive, harmful burden on restaurants and frozen dessert shops.

Ward was alerted to the problems this outdated law created by members of the Hoss’s Steak & Seahouse in the 30th Senatorial District she represents. After much deliberation, Senate Bill 152 was signed into law in November with the support of the administration and stakeholders.
