Ward, Irvin Announce Funding for Juniata Valley Park in Porter Township

PORTER TOWNSHIP – State Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) and state Rep. Rich Irvin (R-81) today announced state funding has been approved to rehabilitate Juniata Valley Park in Porter Township.

“Parks provide healthy outdoor recreational opportunities for local families and residents,” Ward said. “The state is partnering with Porter Township to ensure Juniata Valley Park will be an asset for the local community for years to come.”

Porter Township will receive $61,700 to construct pedestrian walkways, install play equipment, expand access in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards, pay for landscaping services, install a project sign and make other site improvements at Juniata Valley Park.

“Parks play an essential role in healthy communities by encouraging people to enjoy outdoor activities,” Irvin said. “These state dollars will help rehabilitate and improve Juniata Valley Park for the residents of Porter Township.”

The grants were awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which helps fund planning, acquisition and development of public parks, recreation areas, trails and more.
