Senator Judy Ward: Working Group Good Step Toward Addressing COVID Vaccine Issues for Seniors

(HARRISBURG) – In February, Senator Judy Ward and Senator Maria Collett, as Chairs of the Aging and Youth Committee wrote a letter to Acting Secretary Beam asking for an “Aging Working Group” to be established to address issues with COVID-19 vaccinations. With Governor Wolf announcing today the creation of an Aging Subcommittee for his COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, Committee Chair State Senator Judy Ward (R-30), issued the following statement:

“With seniors making up more than half of Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 deaths, I am encouraged the Governor has responded to our request to give a voice to Pennsylvania’s 2.5 million seniors. By establishing a working group to specifically focus on older Pennsylvanians, we must expediently develop and execute a better plan to vaccinate this critical population. To protect their overall health and welfare, it is crucial that we do everything possible to get those in congregant care and seniors vaccinated quickly. We must do better by our seniors and I am hopeful this is a first step in doing so.”
