Ward Selected to Chair Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee

HARRISBURG – Senator Judy Ward (R-30) was appointed today to serve as Chair of the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.

The committee is responsible for reviewing proposals to restructure and streamline state government. In previous sessions, the panel studied proposals to consolidate state departments and legislative service agencies and reviewed other plans to expand, eliminate or modify existing government programs.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to play a leading role in exploring new ways to make state government operate more efficiently and effectively,” Ward said. “We need to take a closer look at how we manage all of the programs and services that are funded by taxpayer dollars and make sure we are not missing opportunities to save money and improve the delivery of services.”
