Grand Opening Celebration for the Blair County Genealogical Society!

Congratulations to the Blair County Genealogical Society on cutting the ribbon and grand opening celebration on their newly constructed addition of a 1,200 square-foot meeting room. The meeting room will be used for speaker events, classes, and is available to the community for events.

Unclaimed Property Event with Treasury in Hollidaysburg

On Tuesday, May 12 from 10 a.m. until Noon, I invite you to join a representative from Treasurer Garrity’s office to find out if YOU have any unclaimed property! The treasurer’s office will be available to assist in the online property search and complete paperwork on the spot. No appointment necessary. You will only need to bring a valid Photo ID. For questions, please call my district office at 814-695-8386.

What is Unclaimed Property?

Unclaimed property can be old bank accounts, uncashed paychecks, insurance payments, rebates – the list is virtually endless. The bottom line is that it is money owed to people like you. More than 1 in 10 Pennsylvanians have unclaimed property available to be claimed!

You can search online and file a claim yourself, click here. If you find unclaimed property in your name, follow the steps to file your claim.

First Batch of 2026 Money Match Unclaimed Property Checks Being Mailed

More than 100,000 checks, totaling nearly $23 million, are being mailed to Pennsylvania residents under the state Treasury’s 2026 Money Match program for unclaimed property.

Created by the General Assembly in 2024, Pennsylvania Money Match allows Treasury to return unclaimed property valued at up to $500 belonging to a single owner automatically without the need to search or file a claim.

Unclaimed property can include dormant bank accounts, abandoned stocks, uncashed checks and more. Treasurer Stacy Garrity urges Pennsylvanians to regularly search online for unclaimed property, since some claims may not qualify to be part of Money Match.

You Are Invited to My Fulton County Senior Expo!

On Thursday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to Noon, I will be hosting my 2026 Senior Expo at the American Legion Post 561 located at 411 N. 5th Street in McConnellsburg.

This event is free to attend and will offer door prizes, health screenings, vendor exhibits and light refreshments. I look forward to seeing you all there!

Welcome Tropical Smoothie Café to Altoona!

Congratulations to Tropical Smoothie Café on the grand opening and ribbon cutting of their location in the Park Hills Plaza in Altoona! Stop by and try one of their many smoothies.

Senate Approves Bill Aiding Pennsylvanians with Invisible Disabilities During Police Interactions

The Senate approved a voluntary ID designation for Pennsylvanians with invisible disabilities, such as deafness and autism, to help ensure clearer, safer interactions with law enforcement.

Under Senate Bill 802, individuals with invisible disabilities could apply for the designation free of charge, with a doctor’s sign-off, through a process similar to obtaining a handicap parking placard. The designation would appear as a symbol on a driver’s license or state-issued ID card, alerting officers of potential communication difficulties during traffic stops or other interactions.

At least 32 other states have implemented similar measures. Senate Bill 802 was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Wishing You a Happy Easter!

To those across the district who celebrate, this Sunday is a reminder of the death, burial, and resurrection and the promise that is provided for in Jesus Christ. Take time this weekend to celebrate that precious gift. I hope you and your loved ones have a happy Easter full of joy and hope.
